I have seen some amazing blogs from my friends, both local and those who decided to move away. And instead of emailing for every little thing, I figured blogging might help me keep others updated better.
Saturday, March 28th - is a day I will never forget. I was able to attend the temple for the first time. Not only was it amazingly special, my most stable-reliable-adorable-examplar-incredible-wonderful-role model friend drove all the way from Utah that morning, so that she could be there with me. What she doesn't know is that while she was serving her mission, she helped me to plant my testimony in concrete. Through many different challenges in life, I was wavering and didn't know in which direction I wanted to go. I had made the decision to either give it my all or walk away from the church. It wasn't that she chastized me or threw so much doctrine at me, she just simply gave me her take on the things she was teaching and how they had affect her life. She expressed her love for me and how NO MATTER WHAT I CHOSE, she was still going to love me and be such a strong friend to me. It was through those letters during her mission, that I realized that I CANNOT live my life without the Gospel. I may never make all the right decisions, and I may never do all that I am supposed to. But I will continue to do what I can to keep my life in harmony with the standards of the church.
Now back to Saturday... I was surrounded by my parents, grandparents, my oldest sister (my escort) and her husband, my awesome Bishop and his beautiful wife, so many friends from my ward, and other friends. Some of these people traveled far or cut short Spring Break trips just to be there with me. I cannot express the gratitude and love I have for each of them. I am so blessed to have each of them in my life and to be able to have such wonderful examples around me. The biggest thing I wish I could've had different on that day, was to have my son be able to be there with me. I know that things will work out as they are supposed to, it will just keep me extra cautious in my actions, so that I will ensure that I'm doing all that I can so that my son can be with me for all eternity. His sweet spirit is such a stregnth unto me. Even though there are times where the various aspects of life completely overwhelm me and I think that I'm ultimately tapped out with life, I can never deny that there is a plan, and that Heavenly Father knows what is best. At those times in my life is when I have no choice but to put myself in His hands and ask for help (which those who know me realize that me asking for help is an accomplishment in itself). I may not have the answers to my questions, or know how to make things work in my life, but I do know that if I continue to return to the Temple and do my part, everything else will work out. I don't know how, but like it says in D&C 82:10 - "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say, but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise."
Thank you all for sharing that special day with me. And for being the amazing people that you are. I love you.
